Cross-Country

  Today we went and did cross-country. Because we went into a lockdown, cross-country was postponed, and today was the postponed date.  Before the surprise Lockdown we were given out ice cream forms for cross-country. 

On Monday they told us if we still have it at home you could bring it in with the money, some people had time to bring it in and some people did not (I did not). I couldn't run the cross-country because I had a sore hip and my friend (Te Atawhai) couldn't because she had foot sores so we were given some rubbish picks and buckets so we could pick up rubbish while we wait.

Honestly there was lots of rubbish, over the road from the park we picked up the rubbish from was a dairy so there were a lot of lolly wrappers, chip cartons,  plastic sandwich holders and cigarette butts. I was surprised how much rubbish there was, especially under the big trees with all these branches.

When it came to lunchtime the ice creams for given out because I didn't get an  ice cream. First the WAI kids lined up, WAI are the little kids they are year 0, 1 and 2, then NUI Lined up, NUI  are be middle aged kids they are year 3, 4 and some year 5s, then finally MOANA got to go, they are the oldests kids who are year 5s and 6s. 

I enjoyed cross country this year.

I challenge you to a drawing challenge!!!

As we're in lockdown my Mum has decided to give us a drawing challenge, which has a topic on what to draw each day. The first day was bones, the second day was an exotic pet, and today is something with two heads. I'm really excited to do it because I think I'm going to do a two headed dragon. For bones I did a horse skull in a field of flowers and for exotic it I did a toucan and a rainbow jungle. It is really fun because you get to be creative but also have a topic that helps you to get your creative juices flowing.This is great cause there's not much to do because it is very raining and cold so we can't go out for a walk, and we can't go for adventures. Just before lockdown my Mum got us new pens and pencils. Some are metallic and glittery and some are neon, The pencils are perfect for blending and making shadows.If you are bored I will put a photo of the list and you could start doing it because it is very fun and entertaining.

THE EXTRAORDINARY QUICKWRITES

 Koka pip (my teacher) created a lockdown online quick write book that has all sorts of activities in it. This week I did an alpha list. The alpha list was about life in our bubble. An alpha list is an list in alphabetical order, Mine went like this:

6 Sentences Only!!!???

In L3 writing  our teacher challenged us to write a whole story, but there was a catch the story had to be 6 sentences long. My story was about an isolated horse without any friends. The story goes like this:

Once upon a time there lived an isolated horse who longed to have friends.

She lived in a massive field in the middle of nowhere!

This horse used to be the ultimate show jumping horse she even competed at the olympics.

Everyday she would dream her owner would come and visit her or even get her a new friend, it never happened though.

Friendless is the best way to describe the way that she felt.

One day as a wild herd came past she decided to leap the fence and join them and she lived happily ever after.

The olympic games

 Do you know much about the Olympics? For 2 weeks now, the Olympics have been going on in Tokyo, Japan. Our class were given a booklet to fill in about the Olympics, Japan, Japanese culture, the athletes in the Olympics and the ancient Olympics. Our teacher got the booklet off Kiwi Kids News. Also in the booklet it has a couple pages about the paralympics, the paralympics are like the Olympics for people with different abilities such as maybe one leg, blind or deaf. Who is your favorite olympic or paralympics athlete? Mine is Caroline Powell a New Zealand equestrian rider. 

Ancient olympics.The ancient Olympics didn't used to be 16 days it used to be a 5 day event. In the ancient Olympics there only used to be 7 events such as running, long jump, shot put, javelin, boxing, pankration and equestrian events. The ancient Olympics were canceled once during World War I (1916) and twice during World War II (1940, 1944).  Did you know the ancient Olympics were over 2,700 years ago?

Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo, Japan is where the Olympics 2020 are being held. Around 11,000 athletes will participate in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Because of quarantines there are no spectators allowed to go to Tokyo 2020. This is not the first time Asia has held the olympics, They held the Olympics in 1964. Have you been to Tokyo, Japan?

Modern Olympics. Have you heard of Pierre de Coubertin? Pierre de Coubertin was the founder of the modern Olympics. In the modern Olympics there are 33 sports and 46 disciplines and the Olympics last for no more than 16 days. Every host city has to make 1 mascot for the Olympics and 1 for the paralympics. The Tokyo Olympic mascot is Miratowa and the paralympic mascot is Someity. Did you know the gold medals the give out to the winner are made out of mostly made out of silver not gold!?

Have you been watching the olympics on TV? The Olympics are a great opportunity for amazing athletes from around the world to illustrate what hard work and determination can achieve. The Olympics have many many sports so the athletes can do what they love and love what they do.

Everyone had a story about him

This week I did a very detailed interesting quick write  with the story starter: Everyone had story about him. In the story he had a deep dark secret that he was a thief and he couldn't stop robbing places because his family will mentally and physically abuse him. So they end up running away together.

    

Our dance group

 After participating in the rhythmical dance it looked really fun choreographing a dance. So Lola and Rio started a dance group and asked me and Esther if I wanted to help, and I said of course! The song is Dua Lipa levitating. Would you like me to teach a dance? We practice at lunch and morning tea every day and they are amazing. It is more rhythmical than just dance so they have to do quite a couple flips and tricks. They are year 5 and 4s so they are younger than us. They are all girls that are very flexible and bendy.
